SONGS
IN THE GARDEN
1 I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
2 He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
Refrain
3 I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
Refrain
CHURCH IN THE WILDWOOD
1 There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood,
No lovelier spot in the dale;
No place is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the vale.
Refrain:
Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh, come to the church in the vale;
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the vale.
2 Oh, come to the church in the wildwood,
To the trees where the wild flowers bloom;
Where the parting hymn will be chanted,
We will weep by the side of the tomb.
Refrain
3 How sweet on a clear Sabbath morning,
To list to the clear ringing bell;
Its tones so sweetly are calling,
Oh, come to the church in the vale.
Refrain
4 From the church in the valley by the wildwood,
When day fades away into might,
I would fain from this spot of my childhood
Wing my way to the mansions of light.
Refrain
SPECIAL THANKS
We give all thanks to our great and glorious Creator, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.
We are thankful to many people who came before us and created this special place, and who continue to support the ministry of Antioch UMC.
There are many who deserve special recognition. Some of these names are listed in the order of worship and throughout this book.
There are others who prefer to work anonymously, but without their support Antioch would have closed long ago.
At this time, we express our gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly to create and maintain this beautiful place of quiet rest. We also give a huge “thank you” to those who helped plan and provide this celebration.
We apologize in advance for not naming everyone individually but know that your hard work has not gone unnoticed, and you will receive a much greater reward than our meager thanks.
Note from the pastor, Lori Howell-Miller: I would like to thank Vesta, Scott, Johnny, and Lee, who have become a part of my family. The peace I’ve found at Antioch is made even more deep and meaningful by their welcome, love, and support.
Note from Vesta: I would like to thank our preacher, Lori, for her hard work and dedication to serving God and the Church.
